Isela is a Mexican American, a mother to a beautiful daughter and the older of seven loving siblings. As a child, Isela found literature be an amazing journey that led to deeper meanings. As a native Spanish speaker, Isela would always read alongside her dictionary, to try to capture the true understanding of the passage. 

“Reading to me was like escaping my reality and finding myself in a challenging labyrinth of word that would transport me to another world of meanings. This thought me that if I want to understand the real meaning, I would need humility, for a familiar word could have a deeper meaning. I felt as if my dictionary was my master key and secret weapon to help me open unimaginable dreams."

With her writing, Isela desires to use her words to give voice to those who have temporarily lost the strength in their own voice. To also provide a healing to not just our inner child, but to those currently affected by the unpredictability of life.

Her “Heart to Hands” campaign is to provide books to the underserved children in our community.

Her wish is to bring comfort to those who need it most, for as she states:

“our entire future is in the hands of our children and in the generosity and kindness of your hearts.”
